Brussels, Belgium

Brief:

The most disappointing trip that I made.  The city itself is very gloomy, grey and poverty runs the streets.  If you look up, like many other European cities, the architecture is beautiful and very gothic, however the streets themselves where you are spending most of your time is very dirty and depressing.

However, it was awesome for of course, both it's chocolate as well as it's waffles.

Things to Do:

-Eat waffles, chocolate, and french fries with mayo

-Shop a lot (so cheap!)

-See Mannequin Pis (A hilarous fountain of a boy peeing... I got a kick out of it)

-Visit Grand Place & Hotel De Ville

-Both of these are beautifully architecturally designed and are in the center of the city.

Lodging:

We had planned on staying at Hello Hostel, which at first seemed like a very nice place but shortly after turned our stomachs.  Long story short, we had a very bad experience here and to add to the bad experience, when we asked for a refund, they refused to give us one.  They had placed my roommate and myself in an entirely separate buildling with zero security or wifi, and refused to let us stay in the main building.  When we decided to not stay the night because of the very bad gut feelings we had, they refused to refund us any amount we paid.   And the funniest part is that on Hostelworld.com, Hello Hostel was ranked the best in Brussels.... That's sure a scary thought.   And so, if planning a trip to Brussels, I suggest that you look into a chain hotel, like a Holiday Inn or something along those lines to avoid any mishaps like the one we went through.
